A specialist career
After qualifying in dentistry at the University of Pretoria in 1977 and working in London, Dr Van Heerden returned to Cape Town to specialise in periodontics and oral medicine. He completed his specialist training in 1985 and went on to build practices in London’s West End, Claremont, Somerset West and Namibia.
Beyond practice
Always moving
Hundreds of races, extreme marathons, summits, open-water crossings and journeys into the Arctic define an appetite for difficult places. His other interests include free diving, aviation, interior design and the stewardship of Back Bay Properties.
